The residence

TRANSLUOGHI | Ecomuseo del Bussento Contemporaneo — a project of the Municipality of Morigerati funded by the Operational Program for Action and Cohesion, complementary to the National Operational Program (NOP) ā€œCulture and Developmentā€ (ERDF) 2014 – 2020 and by the Ministry of Culture — launches its rich cultural program, in collaboration with La Scuola Open Source in Bari, with the first two artist residencies in the area, aimed at defining the graphic and visual identity of this large, emerging tourist district.

Graphic artists, artists, designers, and illustrators have been invited to Morigerati, from May 30 to June 2, 2024, to take part in a four-day residency that — drawing on the interplay of different disciplines and methodologies, under the guidance of external experts with a deep understanding of the subject — worked in collaboration with the local community to define a coordinated graphic identity capable of representing the complex and multi-layered reality of the Ecomuseum.

The residency program consisted of periods of exploration and field research, phases of individual and collective reworking, and the presentation of the completed work to the community, generating a dynamic system of signs and symbols through the basic and versatile unit of the pixel, which symbolically represents the elements of the living local landscape—both environmental and cultural.
