Cultural Landscape of Water

A route that winds from the historic center of Morigerati and passes through the places and ecosystems where water and humans have shaped and defined the landscape.

Passing by the Antico Frantoio — home to the Ecomuseum — you descend into the canyon, characterized by dense Mediterranean vegetation, along a stream featuring springs, waterfalls, an ancient 18th-century watermill, and a rare moss habitat; until reaching the cave, where you can witness the resurgence of the karstic Bussento River — which disappears into the Caselle in Pittari sinkhole, travels its mysterious underground journey, and reemerges about 7 km further south.

The route continues uphill for a short stretch, then turns onto the trail that runs alongside the Bussento River, wading through the system of gorges, until reaching the village of Isca.

To return, simply follow the trail back the way you came.
